Many years ago, I went with a group to the County Home. Once a month, we had a hymn sing-along with the residents.
The people who lived in this home had next to nothing as far as the world would be concerned. I'm sure some people living there lived in regret. Many, I'm sure, were unhappy.
However, there was one man I will never forget! Carl was a big guy with an equally huge smile. This man radiated joy!
We asked for hymn requests, and Carl always shouted the same song, Victory In Jesus. I can still see Carl singing loud and clear, with a beaming smile radiating from his face.
Today's Bible verses reminded me of Carl. "I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13
Carl's chosen hymn and radiating smile were evidence that Carl had learned to be content through Christ, who gave him the strength.
